Extracurricular
Enrichment Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
Extracurricular activities are an essential component of Sierra Sage Academic Model™ program. Studies have found that participation in certain extracurricular pursuits significantly reduces a student’s risk of dropping out. Sierra Sage students have the opportunity to participate in sanctioned sports, intramurals and campus clubs. These activities help students develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills that can be applied to other areas of their lives.
Opportunities
Sierra Sage Lady RAMs play on NIAA sanctioned teams which compete against other area high schools. Intramurals offer every student the opportunity to play a team sport of their choice and to develop coordination, communication and leadership skills. Talent Shows and coordinated exercise competitions showcase students’ special skills and talents, while campus clubs develop our students’ intellect and creativity.
Expanding Horizons
Sierra Sage students have unique experiences that are integral components of our program. Our students have attended University of Nevada, Reno basketball games, have participated in community events hosted by Lyon County and hosted events for the local Boys & Girls Club. When students help each other achieve goals, their horizons widen, enabling them to envision a brighter vision of success.
Leadership and Excellence
Sierra Sage students practice leadership skills through the Student Council which models excellent behavior, academic proficiency and athletic accomplishment. Sierra Sage offers its students opportunities for equestrian and canine therapy—which teaches them emotional regulation and social skills. With each new opportunity, Sierra Sage students are encouraged to pursue excellence in and out of the classroom.
